Central Europe’s oldest management faculty
Although the School of Management of Warsaw University has been in existence for over 30 years, it is the oldest faculty of its kind in Central Europe.
The School of Management dates back to 1972, when the Institute of Management Studies was set up at the Warsaw University. In 1974 it became the Institute of Organization and Management of the Warsaw University and Polish Academy of Sciences. In 1977 the Institute became a faculty of Warsaw University and in doing so, took its present name of the School of Management.
From its inception, the Warsaw University School of Management has trained managers for Polish business, local and central government and for managers from international businesses. On average, the School has over 5000 students enrolled in their programs. From 1972 thousands of graduates have obtained master’s degrees from the faculty and over 150 doctorates have been conferred. Bachelor degrees were conferred for the first time in 1995 (180 graduates) and to date there have been over 2000 graduates with a B.A. in Management Studies. More than 80% of these B.A. graduates went on to enrol in a master’s degree program at the School of Management.
