Program description

master of finance

The Master of Finance (MF) is one of the new and exciting initiatives at the Schulich School of Business.

Due to increasing competition in the marketplace, analysts and dealmakers alike require more focused knowledge and accreditation than ever before. As a recent article in The Financial Times suggests, a master’s degree in Finance is a “must-have degree” for specialized finance professionals. Schulich's MF program is designed to provide students with an intensive training in finance that is both practical and intellectually challenging. The course work is enhanced by regular research as well as professional seminars, taking advantage of the business community in Toronto and the Schulich alumni network.

The global credit crisis has created a challenging economic environment. Policy makers and business leaders alike are scrambling to find the new financial order. If you want to pursue a career as a finance specialist, this may be the perfect time to further your education, to re-train or re-tool, in time to meet the exciting challenges that lie ahead. Schulich School of Business understands that at times like this, the opportunity cost of going back to school is high. Students want a curriculum that is both rigorous and practical, and one that can be completed in a timely fashion. The Schulich MF delivers this.

As a Schulich Master of Finance graduate, job prospects range from investment banking and asset management to positions in private equity firms, central banks, hedge funds, consulting firms and government agencies. The program also serves as an excellent foundation for students wishing to pursue a PhD in finance. Students of the MF program have full access to the Richard Waugh Career Development Centre at the Schulich School which offers expert career counselling and assists in the placement of graduates.
