is it rude to contact a bunch of people who have graduated from an mba program i'm looking at? how do i approach them?

it's a big investment and you should check out their alumni.
if i were you, i would send an email to like 10 people you can find online. then say something like 'hey - i am seriously considering studying at blah blah blah university - how was your experience? did it get you the job you wanted?'
if they reply you can get more in-depth.

You should be able to get a list of alumni who won't mind being contacted by the admissions department.
