Program description

Ahead of the game

The MSc in Real Estate Investment is aimed at those students wishing to enter or advance their careers in the fields of real estate investment management, real estate finance and the securitised real estate markets. This Real Estate Investment Masters degree course combines the rigour of a mainstream finance programme with the direct application of financial theory and techniques in a real estate context. This MSc course extensively deals with the growth in the securitised real estate markets of Real Estate Investment Trusts and Mortgage Backed Securities. It also examines the growing real estate derivatives market. The Real Estate Investment Masters degree programme is designed for students with relevant undergraduate degrees or work experience and strong quantitative skills. The Masters programme provides an ideal foundation for those wishing to study for the Investment Management Certificate or the Chartered Financial Analyst examinations.

To satisfy the requirements of the degree programme students must complete:

  • Eight core courses
  • Three electives
  • Business Research Project

Application and Admission Requirements

To be accepted for these courses you will need good Bachelors degree, usually a UK 2.1 or above or the equivalent from an overseas institution. Some level of previous study in finance or quantitative techniques is preferred for applications to the MSc in Real Estate Investment.

Students who have not previously studied in English will need to sit an IELTS or TOEFL exam.

Applicants will need to submit two references, one of which MUST be an academic reference. No work experience is required, but please provides details of relevant experience that might enhance your profile.

RICS AccreditedThe Investment Property Forum in the UK recognises the programmes as a
gateway to the real estate investment sector and as a clear entry route for
membership of the Forum for all candidates aged over 30 with five years
appropriate experience. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
accredits the course, enabling graduates to enter the RICS Assessment of
Professional Competence (APC).
