According to a recent report conducted by the the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) MBA graduates can expect to see employment numbers on the rise with nearly 74 percent of employers intending to hire at least one MBA graduate in 2012, up from 58 percent in 2011. The bad news is that while MBA graduates can expect a stronger job market, salaries will largely remain stagnint. "Despite the increased hiring projections, the majority of companies, or 65 percent, plan to keep base salaries at similar levels to 2011", read the report.

Considering the job market is still considerably tighter than in years past, it is more important than ever that MBA students participate in internship programs to set themselves apart from other job applicants and test their management skills in the real-world.

With the news that MBA graduates will see stronger employment numbers than in 2011 and 22 percent of recruiters maintaing they are planning to hire more MBA graduates, perhaps now is the time to head back to school and get an MBA.

The area of external communications and public relations is growing in both importance and popularity, as businesses recognize the need to have experienced individuals managing their communication activities and image. Many business schools are realizing the need for future executives to be prepared to interact with the media and manage their companies' reputations.

We all remember when the former CEO of BP, Tony Hayward, complained about getting his life back after BP dumped millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. This is a shining example why future executives and business leaders should be knowledgeable about crisis management, public relations, and strategic communications.

Communication and Public Relations is certainly about more than just crisis communication. It also offers companies the opportunity to build mutual trust with the public and increase transparency, which is something every business should strive for. Additionally, organizations who engage in strategic communications tend to experience stronger customer relationships and realize favorable returns along several metrics, including product pricing, stock price, revenue stability, and customer loyalty. (According to Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business)

In the era of social responsibility, customers and the general public will no longer accept the traditional corporation's "don't say anything" approach to wrong doings. Suggesting that PR and Communication is more important than many business professionals may realize.

MBA programs in Communication and Public Relations will address these areas while providing students the traditional elements of an MBA program.

An important aspect of working in BRIC countries is the ability to deal with government intervention and corruption. I wonder, how would MBA schools teach students on how to face these adversaries. Here is a list of http://ygraph.com/chart/1327 conducted by BusinessWeek in 2011, which may be useful.
