Ready to
further develop your accounting expertise? By completing the Tippie College's Master
of Accountancy (M.Ac.) Program, you'll satisfy the 150 semester hours needed to
sit for the CPA exam in Iowa and you'll receive a master's degree.
You'll take
courses that broaden your perspective on the role of accounting in
organizations and decision making, and you'll acquire expertise in one of four
areas of specialization: financial/auditing, management information systems,
managerial accounting, or tax.
Iowa's internationally ranked graduate accounting program is
your competitive advantage.
The Master of Accountancy (M.Ac.) is a nonthesis program that requires a
total of 30 semester hours (s.h.) beyond the BBA.
Students who earn an undergraduate degree in accounting from another college
or university, or who receive a bachelor's degree in an area other than
accounting, can obtain professional training in accounting by directly entering
our Master of Accountancy (M.Ac.) Program. We tailor the M.Ac. program of study
to meet the individual's needs in light of his or her background.
For those students who enter with an undergraduate degree in accounting, the
program is designed to be completed within one calendar year. Students with an
undergraduate degree in another area of business typically are required to take
45-51 s.h. in order to complete the M.Ac. Program. Those with degrees outside
of business typically are required to take 57-60 s.h. to remove academic
deficiencies in quantitative methods, business, and accounting.
Our programs qualify students to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examinations. The pass rate for our
graduates on these exams far exceeds the national average.
