Description of MSc in Marketing

The MSc Programme in Marketing emphasizes the department's present competitive strengths in the area of China Marketing, Services Marketing, E-Marketing and Strategic Marketing. In addition, the programme is unique in that it provides students not only with a thorough and in-depth knowledge base in marketing but also a wide range of advanced marketing electives not usually encountered in a normal undergraduate marketing or MBA programme.

The MSc Programme in Marketing aims:

  1. to offer a compact, well-designed and specialized training programme to candidates with interests in marketing;
  2. to provide candidates with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge of fundamental and new marketing concepts;
  3. to enhance candidates' ability in analyzing current marketing issues;
  4. to develop and sharpen candidates' marketing skills in doing business in Asia, especially in China.

The programme of study is designed for part-time students to complete after a study period of six terms in two calendar years.

Application and Admission Requirements

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in any discipline normally with Second Class Honors or higher, or with an average grade of not lower than "B". Candidates with relevant recognized professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelor's degree are also encouraged to apply if they have strong working experience relating to marketing operations. All candidates are requested to submit a recent GMAT score.

Each applicant is considered on the basis of an individual application, transcripts, GMAT result and letters of recommendation. All short-listed applicants will be invited to attend an interview.

Expenses / Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for the academic year 2010/2011 is HK$59,000, which shall be paid in three instalments. Applicants are also required to pay an application fee of HK$180.

In the following year, the Graduate School was formally founded to undertake research training of postgraduate studies in five Master’s degree programmes in Chinese Language and Literature, Business Administration, Geography, History and Philosophy. Since then, the Graduate School has been developing both horizontally and vertically by advancing into the realm of doctoral education. The first doctoral programme was launched in 1980. By 2009, 34,908 graduates had been conferred with higher degrees. In the academic year 2009-10, the School offers through 61 graduate divisions a total of more than 250 (7 overseas) programmes leading to higher degrees, postgraduate diploma and certificates.
