Application and Admission Requirements

MSc in FinanceApplicants to the Finance MSc should have a good honours bachelor degree, preferably in business or economics, with at least Second Class Honours or an average grade of "B".  Applications are also welcome from graduates of other disciplines with strong quantitative skills and other holders of relevant professional qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. However, candidates must complete the equivalent of undergraduate-level Financial Management before starting the Programme (A pre-term optional course will be offered to candidates with no previous background in finance, before commencement of the Programme. Such candidates are deemed to have satisfied the background requirement in finance after they have successfully completed this background study).

In addition, for admission purpose, CUHK requires a GMAT or GRE score to have been obtained within the last five years.  Applicants with seven years' experience of which five years are in a managerial position can be considered for exemption from the GMAT/GRE requirement. (Such applicants would, however, need to submit other evidence of English Language Proficiency, in accordance with the University's guidelines.)

Graduates on the M.Sc. Programme in Finance can be exempted from Paper I of the Diploma Programme Examination (DPE) of the  Hong Kong Securities Institute (HKSI).

Expenses / Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for part-time M.Sc. students for the academic year 2010/2011 is HK$10,000 per course. (Tuition fees may be subject to change in 2011/2012 and beyond.)

For 2010/2011, applicants are required to pay an application fee of HK$180.

Since then, the Graduate School has been developing both horizontally and vertically by advancing into the realm of doctoral education. The first doctoral programme was launched in 1980. By 2009, 34,908 graduates had been conferred with higher degrees. In the academic year 2009-10, the School offers through 61 graduate divisions a total of more than 250 (7 overseas) programmes leading to higher degrees, postgraduate diploma and certificates.
