Description of MS in Investment Management

Today's investment management professionals need more sophisticated management practices and professional training. Graduates need advanced analytical skills and practical understanding beyond that offered in general business programs.

The MS in Investment Management program is designed to meet this need.

The program trains students in leading-edge theory and practice in the field of investment management. They gain expertise in the design, management, and marketing of investment products.

World-Class Faculty and Cutting-Edge Research

The MS in Investment Management Program courses are taught by faculty who have extensive experience with real-life investments as well as teaching investments. This blend of real-world knowledge, the art of teaching, and cutting-edge research keep them current on market trends, new technologies, and best practices.

MSIM Curriculum

The MS in Investment Management teaches you the groundwork. You apply it yourselves in real-life cases (developed by investment professionals), including live fund management, where your grade depends on your investment performance. In addition, students present the program's final recommendations to practicing professionals who tell you whether you won the business.

  • The program provides the background necessary for preparing for the CFA exams
  • The curriculum, developed and taught by the MSIM faculty and advisory board, integrates state-of-the-art analytical methods with hi-tech learning technology. It covers 38 credits in 17 months. All courses are required and exclusive to MSIM cohorts.
  • There are two residence weeks

Designed For Working Professionals

The MSIM Program is structured to accommodate working professionals in a convenient, executive-style class setting. Classes meet Tuesday evenings each week from 6-9PM and alternate Saturdays from 9AM-4PM. The program also includes two separate weeks of full-time study. In the summer semester, July and August run on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule, so students have their weekends free.

Beginning in January and ending in May of the next year, the program is completed in 17 months. A small cohort of students move through the program together, offering unique learning and networking opportunities.

MSIM Career Opportunities

If you're already working in the investment management industry (in client services, trading, or back office support), the degree can advance your position.

If you're looking to break into the field, the degree will provide the tools to land—and succeed in—your first position.
