The MBA is a
passport to business. Whether you aspire to run your own business or to manage
a major corporation, the business world is so complex and dynamic that a
postgraduate qualification is essential. Even if your undergraduate training is
in commerce or another business-related discipline, you need the broader
perspective offered by the part-time MBA
to see the whole picture.
Melbourne Business School is consistently ranked amongst the top schools in the Asia-Pacific. It is a distinctive institution. It is highly selective in its student intake – we want our students to learn as much from one another as they do from their instructors. The outstanding quality of our teaching is also exceptional – our faculty are chosen not only for their reputation as scholars and researchers but also for their skill as teachers.
Melbourne Business School is distinctive in yet another respect. It is a business in itself. MBS is financially independent, relying upon income from tuition fees and the School’s substantial endowment to meet operating expenses. It should be a comfort to know that those who teach business at MBS must practise what they preach!
Melbourne Business School offers a world-class learning experience leading towards an internationally recognised MBA. As you take your place in our classroom, you will be in company with some of the best and brightest of your generation. And you will be instructed by teachers of international standing.
A great MBA from a great business
school. It’s an inspiring combination.

The international network of over 6,000 alumni stretches across 42 countries, and has a far-reaching influence. Our alumni share common experiences and mutual friendships and they take pride in their achievements and in those of the School.
The alumni program serves to cultivate professional networks, support continuous learning and enhance the reputation of the School for the benefit of all MBS alumni. We assist our members as they progress through their careers and encourage all to remain active members of the Alumni Association.
Features of our alumni program include:
These initiatives are designed to ensure that we contribute to the management education needs of our alumni long after they have graduated, as well as providing alumni with the opportunity to continue their support of the School.
The Melbourne MBA takes three years to complete on a part-time basis. Our academic calendar comprises three 13 week terms each year, with each term being made up of 12 weeks of teaching and a final examination week.
The average part-time study load is two subjects a term, with most part-time students completing the course in about three years. However, the School recognises the demands that work and personal life place on part-time students. This means that students may elect to take a lighter study load (of one subject) in a particular term or may wish to take a term away from study. Similarly, part-time students may increase their study load at any time providing there are suitable extra subjects being taught in a particular term.
In addition, students may complete the program more quickly, by transferring to the full-time program. Part-time MBA students are eligible to transfer to the full-time program in January and September, providing that all core subjects have been completed. However, the School can sometimes accommodate other transfer points, to be determined on an individual basis.
Students may discuss a variation in study load either prior to application or at any time during the program, with the Student Services Course Adviser.
The part-time MBA program fee is AUD$66,000 ($3,300 per subject).
Part-time fees are paid per subject per term in advance and payment deadlines are notified to students at the beginning of each calendar year.
