Description of MBA for Executives: Leadership in Healthcare

Yale's Schools of Management, Medicine, and Public Health, have combined their resources to offer the Leadership in Healthcare MBA for Executives.

The program is both intimate and intense, with a current total of forty-four student-executives who are learning from each other, from world-renowned faculty, and from distinguished visiting scholars. We firmly believe in our motto, Educating Leaders ~ Transforming Healthcare, and we believe that these students, and those who follow them, will be instrumental in improving healthcare, both domestically and globally, and will ultimately help to achieve improved health for all.

Tomorrow's healthcare leaders will rely on finely honed leadership skills, comprehensive healthcare system "savvy," and sector-spanning professional relationships. The Leadership in Healthcare MBA program is the perfect place to acquire all three.

Application and Admission Requirements

In evaluating applicants to the Leadership in Healthcare program we are looking for men and women
  • whose professional experience has equipped them with unique perspective and expertise to inform class discussions,
  • whose successes and failures bring them to the classroom with a strong drive to become better leaders and managers, and
  • whose personal and professional aspirations are a clear fit for the Leadership in Healthcare MBA experience.

Applicants must be working full time in a managerial or executive role in the healthcare sector and have a minimum of seven years of professional experience.

Admissions decisions are made on the basis of an applicant's professional accomplishments and plans, past academic performance, verbal and quantitative abilities as demonstrated on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), and a series of personal interviews.
  • Expenses / Tuition Fees

Program fees for students entering in 2008 are $129,000. This includes a laptop computer, books, study materials, breakfast and lunch on all class days, on-campus parking, and lodging and parking at the Omni New Haven Hotel during summer residencies and on Friday evenings of all weekend sessions. Special social events held on campus for students, their families, and their employers are also covered by program fees.

Description of Yale School of Management

Yale School of ManagementThe Yale SOM mission to educate leaders for business and society is put into practice every day by our graduates, who embody our vision for them as inspiring, broadly engaged, values-based leaders who own and solve hard problems that matter.

The Yale Management integrated curriculum is designed to foster and develop the distinctive qualities that have made Yale SOM graduates leaders in so many fields.

The Yale School of Management has always been known for its innovative approach to management education. From our founding more than 30 years ago, we have promoted the radical idea — not so radical anymore — that good management is essential in every sector, private, nonprofit, or public; and that good management can and should promote the greater good. That’s what our mission of educating leaders for business and society is all about.

Yale SOM graduates are leaders in every field of business and management. Regardless of the career track they pursue, our graduates bring a public-spirited awareness and a disposition for innovation.

Our MBA program provides a rigorous training in fundamental skills as a foundation to help students develop meaningful aspirations. While the Yale SOM community is generally cooperative and supportive (aided by the fact that we don’t compute class rank), it is also infused with a restless ambition — a willingness to think creatively and take risks in order to improve the world.
