International Business Management (MBA)The Furtwangen MBA in International Business Management is one of the best MBA programs in Germany. Offered by a young faculty with an outstanding reputation, the program is truly international, individual and innovative. As HFU Business School attract students from all over the world, the entire program is taught in English by professors who have wide-ranging international career experience.

Teaching is innovative and state-of-the-art based on a solid grounding in practical hands-on background knowledge, thus ensuring that the curriculum meets the demands of globalising companies and organisations.

The program accepts a maximum of no more than 15 students and this more personal setting supports intensive learning and interaction with peers. The result is a very individualized relationship between professors and students.

HFU Business School is situated in the heart of Europe, close to France, Switzerland and Lake Constance, an area home to many global players including Porsche, Daimler, SAP and Hugo Boss.

Application and Admission Requirements

Admisssion Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree with above average performance.
  • Work experience: at least 24 months of relevant professional experience in a business environment after graduation (student internships or jobs can not be considered).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English as indicated by TOEFL (570 paper based; 230 computer-based, 89 internet based); Our ETS code number is 8221. TOEFL is not required for graduates from the UK, Ireland, North America, Australia.

Baden-Württemberg is a major centre for sophisticated, innovative technology and is home to the headquarters of such global players as Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Bosch, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, SAP and Hugo Boss. Besides automotive engineering, other key industries in the state include mechanical engineering and electricity production. Furtwangen University has excellent long-standing contacts with companies in the region as well as with national and international companies.

Numerous hi-tech companies and several research institutions are located directly in Villingen-Schwenningen. The industry of the region has an outstanding reputation for pioneering innovation and the development of leading-edge technology.

Living costs average € 650 per month and are the sole responsibility of the student. The visa may require proof of financial means. Financial support from the university is not available.

As numerous surveys have shown, those who study at HFU Business School - Furtwangen University receive a top rated education. Furtwangen University developed from the ‘Großherzoglich Badische Uhrmacherschule’ (Archduke of Baden Clockmakers‘ School), founded in 1850, to the ‘Staatliche Ingenieurschule für Feinwerktechnik’ (the State Engineers‘ School for Mechatronics) in 1947.

In 1963, the range of study programs was extended to include Electrical Engineering, and in 1968, Computer Science was added as the first program of its kind in Germany. Strong demand led to the foundation of a second campus in Villingen-Schwenningen in 1988, when the Mechanical Engineering and International Business Faculties were added.

HFU Business School is proud of the numerous awards we have received for the uniqueness of our study programs: In May 2006 and 2008 the International Business program received first place in a survey among the largest international corporations in Germany assessing the “employability” of students.

In addition the university has won the prestigious prize annual awarded by the German Foreign Ministry and the DAAD for outstanding quality in International Student Support. The undergraduate programs have achieved the best evaluation possible by the prestigious Centre for Higher Education Development.
