Description of Full-time MBA

At Stern, you design your MBA program. Our uniquely flexible curriculum allows you the freedom to align your academics with your career interests. Students can either pursue a General Management degree or choose up to three of the 21 specializations offered by the program.

Stern MBAs also have the option to study abroad, take classes in other divisions of NYU or, in their second year, attend our popular evening electives with the students and faculty of the Langone part-time program, doubling their network of both faculty and student contacts and broadening their perspective on business through contact with active professionals.

Application and Admission Requirements

Academic Ability
We seek students who are confident in their ability to master the required material and excel in the classroom. Academic potential is assessed primarily by:

Quality of educational programs and performance in programs

Transcripts from all educational institutions attended

General aptitude as measured by the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

Work Experience
Most applicants have between one and ten years of work experience and come from a variety of professional backgrounds, such as consulting, financial services, entertainment, consumer products, nonprofit and technology. Because we value the diversity of our applicants' backgrounds, no industry is favored over another.
The Admissions Committee evaluates work experience not only in terms of years, but also in regard to depth and breadth of an individual's experience, responsibilities and progression.

Although academic work and internships do not count toward professional work experience, Stern reviews all work experience as part of the admission decision. Note that Work experience is not required to apply.

The tuition fee for 2007-8 (based on a 9 month academic year) is $43,022. It includes a one-time fee for Pre-Term.
