Description of Executive MBA

The Sam M. Walton College of Business Executive MBA is designed primarily for students currently employed by multinational companies operating in China. Students in the Executive MBA learn to apply key concepts and strategies in retail, consumer packaged goods, supply chain management and logistics, while interacting with other executive participants from key companies operating in China.

The curriculum is taught by Walton College premier faculty as well as executives in residence drawn from companies with Chinese operations. The 17 month program meets nine times in Shanghai for four day sessions and two times in Arkansas for one week sessions. Students also receive intensive, interactive online instruction between class meetings. The program is conducted in English.

Application and Admission Requirements

To be considered an applicant to the Walton College Executive MBA, an individual must complete the following:

- An EMBA application form
- Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- An essay outlining the professional objectives for completing the program
- A statement of support/letter of recommendation from the sponsoring company
- A personal interview with EMBA faculty to determine English proficiency
- A resume

Program Requirements

- Two one-week trips to Fayetteville, Arkansas (one for orientation and one for commencement)
- Nine 4-day class sessions in Shanghai
- Completion of a Capstone Project for your company resulting in net savings or new revenue
generation of $250,000.

The Walton College, at the University of Arkansas, is located 30 minutes from the world's largest retailer. More than 300 Fortune 500 companies have offices located in Northwest Arkansas to support their relationship with what is often their single-largest customer, Wal-Mart. This relationship has created a wealth of job growth as each of these companies brings career opportunities to the area. The Walton College MBA is a portal to the Fortune 500.

Students attend class in the new, state-of-the-art Willard J. Walker Hall. Class size is small, 30-35, with fewer than half holding business undergraduate degrees. Women make up approximately 30 percent of the student body; international students also comprise approximately 30 percent. The average GMAT score is 630.
