Description of Executive MBA

This 20-month Executive MBA Program is designed for experienced managers seeking an intense professional development experience with an international flavor. The program is offered on campuses in Chicago, London, and Singapore. Special exchange course sessions combine students from all three campuses, providing global exposure. Each campus admits about 80 students who follow a set curriculum as a cohort, developing uniquely strong bonds and a lasting network.

Application and Admission Requirements

The Admissions Committee reviews applications for the Executive MBA program and evaluates candidates on:
  • Future career advancement potential
  • Strong academic record
  • Commitment required to complete program
  • Potential contribution to your classmates

For your application to be considered complete and reviewed for admission, you must be employed full time. Students are expected to remain employed full time while in the program. The GMAT is not required; however, you are welcome to submit your scores.
  • Program Overview

The format for the program varies according to your campus location; however, the curriculum is the same across the 3 campuses. During the 21-month program, you will take 15 of the 17 courses together with your colleagues at your local campus. Each student then selects two electives to complete the course of study, to be taken with the global class (all 3 campuses) in Chicago.

During four one week international sessions, students from all three campuses meet, take classes, work in study groups, and experience local culture together. There are two sessions in Chicago and one each in London and Singapore.

    The Chicago GSB Experience

At Chicago, it's all about the idea. You'll focus on generating, analyzing, comparing and refining ideas. With your classmates and professors. Making the idea better. And better yet. Why? Because there are no pat answers or simple rules to draw on in business.

You'll thrive throughout your career because you'll have learned how to:
  • Examine every idea. Whether presented by a classmate or a professor. You'll voice your support, your dissent, your suggestions. Here, there are no wrong questions except the ones that go unasked.
  • Evaluate problems and opportunities. Through the lenses of accounting, economics, psychology, sociology, and statistics. With a diversity of analytical tools and methods, you'll see things in new ways.
  • Handle uncertainty. You'll learn to feel comfortable when there is no formula to guide you. No path to follow. You'll lead the way with your ability to think critically and act decisively.
  • Degree and diploma etc.

Students who complete the Executive Program earn a University of Chicago MBA- the same degree awarded in all of our other MBA programs.
